I couldnt disagree with this article more, what momentum has this government got apart from making terrible decision after terrible decision? Look at last week Ardern showing zero leadership by not stripping Curran of all of her ministerial duties and Mallard calling for an inquiry into the leaking and then changing his mind the next day. Today they decide to persuade most landlords to convert their rentals into Air BnBs. This is the worse government I can remember and business leaders can recognise this.

Great article and sums up the situation very well. Ardern doesnt have the skills or the pragmatism to be PM and also a major factor is she has a very weak and fragmented government supporting her. Peters clearly has all the control in this government.

Im in business to business services and have approx 1000 clients and this is a real issue. Business are worried the changes to the ERA and the increases of running their company. There is also the lack of faith in this governments ability to manage the economy. This lack of faith is directly related to the lack of private sector experience they have.

You have got to be kidding me Andrea, when does criticism of a female automatically be made out to be sexist? As a country we are seeing more and more women in more âpowerful❠roles. I actually think these articles do more damage than good. You have to have the best person doing the job not a quota.

Lipstick on a pig! It should be about policy and making the right responsible decisions in government. Something that labour doesnt to be able to do, Im not surprised though they dont have any capable people in their caucus.

Sounds like he went on holiday anyway and then got recalled back by the Labour party. Lots of people cancel holiday during a crisis, I dont think this government realise they are the government and have to be there when required. They still act like the opposition. The sad thing here is that Clark was seen as one of their rising stars but is more like a shooting star that is burning out and falling back to earth to crash and burn!

Good balanced article. That was a terrible speech from ardern and was aimed at school children rather than successful adults. What worries me is she is constantly saying it is certainty that business wants, all she is saying is that she will not be listening and will push on with labours disastrous changes to the ERA.

I heard Thomas trying to defend her decision, she did it because she doesnt like Brash. She needs to resign, this wasnt done for the good of the university it was done because of her personal politics. I wouldnt categorise Brash as a hate speech merchant and neither would the rest of NZ. As for the two Canadians, they sounded like a couple of total Aholes but received a lot of publicity due to Goffs personal dislike of them. Ifhe hadnt made a big deal about them no one in NZ would have known they were in the country.

Labour just dont connect the dots - increased fuel tax equals an increase in all products and service associated with freight i.e. everything! We run nearly 25 vehicles in my company, what do you do to offset it? Increase prices just like every other business will have to do. Labour is completely screwing their voter base, hopefully people are starting to get the fairy dust out of their eyes to see it! This government wobbles from one bad decision to a worst decision on a weekly basis!

The greens have been very disappointing in this government. They need to drop the social engineering and go back to environmental issues. They are making so many bad decisions I think they are going to really struggle to get back into parliament at theNext election, especially if a real environmentally focused party is formed. It is disgraceful that Turei hasnt been charged.

Ardern is losing credibility in her role as PM and it is starting to get more and more obvious she has no practical experience in a leadership/ senior management role. Her strategy is to smile and see aspirational nice happy things and that will make everything better. Labours haphazard policies are starting to have a serious effect on this country!

+52−4

All she did was lie to voters and sell out to Peters! She is a weak leader in charge of the worst government I have seen in my lifetime. Definitely a one term government and the only silver lining is that we wont see a labour government for another generation.

+64−23

Very accurate article, labour has a weak inexperienced leader and a complete lack of talent. It is scary the amount damage they could do until the next election. Nz elections are won by the female vote and this was clearly demonstrated at the last election. Will be interesting to see if those swing voters still have any faith in ardern.

So this government is going to set up another working group to see if they should these tax digital marketing platforms? So Labour ministers (or were they in their role of just being people?) attend a very exclusive and expensive night with a global corporate and then dont tell the taxpayer (Their boss) what was said or what could happen as a result? So much for honest and transparent government! Seriously this government is getting more embarrassing by the day! How do lefties keep defending this type of hypocritical behaviour? If these were National MPs doing this there would be a massive uproar.

+41−7

They need to publish the report as Ardern campaigned on being the most open and transparent government ever. Im hearing that this is all a massive cover up to protect senior Labour Party members

This is a terrible idea, the 90 day trial meant that you would take a chance on an employee that you werent sure about. Certain members of society are now going to find it very hard to get a job. As for unions, good workers dont need them as a good employer always looks after good staff. This is purely payback from labour to the unions who funded their election campaign. I would be interested to see what nz first voters think of this bill.

The greens need to focus on environmental issues not this social engineering BS. Davidson represents the hard fringe lunatic left that will see them lose support from their traditional support base. I sincerely hoped the greens might be able to do some good in government but they are completely failing.

+32−1

Couldnt agree more, this government is a total disaster and we still have two years to endure! Hopefully they havent bankrupted the country by then. The only silver lining is that we wont have another labour government for another generation.

+43−12

I dont really care if they both have kids or not, Im interested in them being strong leaders with a good team behind them and good policies that lead to better outcomes for New Zealand. Jacinta definitely isnt and Im still not sure about Simon. But labour is incompetent that anyone in charge is better than them.

+48−19

Peters has been in politics for 40 years, he should know what is doing by now. I heard his train wreck of an interview with Hosking the other morning - he literately had no idea how one of the governments policies worked!

+36−9

I cant believe Ardern is dismissing this, one of her major weaknesses is following her communist ideology rather than listening to the electorate. The left hated John key but he knew when to change direction based on what he was hearing. Labour are facing less tax income from PAYE and most benefit costs due to unemployment if she continues on this path.

The Greens are performing terribly, they need to focus on the environment not social engineering. Where is Shaw? Is he still alive? I havent seen him for months. Genter has a shocker every time she opens her mouth, Sage is getting blindsided by the coalition partners constantly. Davidson is showing 1 fringe loony left form and dont get me started on old golly gosh. I seriously think the Greens are gone next election as they are no longer an environmental party!

I agree with some of this article that opposition should support good ideas. But there is the major problem, this current hasnt had any good ideas! They arent changing the country they are wrecking it! So national does need to oppose them and try and stop them. You have a very short memory regarding labour in opposition they whinged about everything that national did. I did agree that this mana mahi does have some merit.

+43−20

What a terrible article that is so far from the truth the writer is delusional! Ardern is a weak leader in charge of an inexperienced, incompetent cabinet. This will be the worse government in our history!

+44−22

Peters handled himself well, I wouldnt vote for him but much prefer him to Ardern. At least Peters makes some sense when his speaks compared to the mindless waffle you get from Ardern

+33−11

There have already been job losses due to uncertainty around what this government if going to do. Lee-Galloway is another minister that has no private sector experience and isnt listening to what the electorate is telling him. It is 1 business doesnt like Labour but these changes will lead to more job losses.

+27−5

I dont condone domestic violence and think abusers are gutless cowards. If the government wants to bring this into law then they should be paying for it not businesses. How do the victims prove they have been abused? Police records? This would have to be the most anti-business government I have experienced in my lifetime. I think there are good intentions behind this bill but in reality it will affect the employment prospects of the people they are trying to help.

+22−1

When are the lefties going to wake up to the fact its all about ardern not nz? She is taking her baby overseas for a PR tour for herself when she should be staying home with her daughter. This is all about her future job with the UN when she is booted out at the next election with a record defeat for labour.

+39−20

A typically deluded union view of the evil greedy rich business owners Good businesses look after good staff. Believe me business confidence is a major issues as it is the difference between employing staff or getting rid of them. A massive indicator is whether or not companies are paying their bills on time

+23−5

Talk to any business owner or senior manager and they will tell you that the issue of business confidence is real. We are already noticing an increase in the amount of time that customers are taking to pay us. Business is worried because they dont know what this government is going to do. It is becoming more and more apparent that Ardern has no leadership skills and that this will be a one term government. They know it and are trying to implement as many radical changes as possible.

+21−3

that was a terrible speech by Ardern to the teachers, what was all the hand gestures about? She made too many promises during the election and now cant pay for them. Total amateur! Keep striking until you get what you want from this weak government teachers, Im quite happy to stay home and look after the kids while you get what you deserve.

+22−5

No worries Jacinda I havent able to get any young kiwis to turn up for an interview or induction if they get the job but know you want business to take responsibility for young people Ill do it. If they dont turn up for work or are lazy there is always the 90 day trial to get rid of them oh wait not anymore... Sorry not worth the risk

+20−3

The changes to the ERA are to payback the unions for keeping the Labour party afloat financially. National awards for entire industries wont work and will cause less jobs. The bulk of NZ businesses are under 20 employees, this government is making it too hard for these smaller companies to keep going.

+19−2

I cant understand what the boks didnt go for a droppy at the end. That was definitely a penalty and at least a yellow for Farrells shoulder charge. I cant believe they werent penalised!

+16−1

The health portfolio is one the hardest ones to be the minister of, you are never going to make everyone happy. Clark was seen as one of the potential stars of this government but is struggling. I think he has made some really bad decisions and unfortunately it will only get worse. Im struggling to write some positive about him, I just hope they getting rid of things just because national set them up but it looks that way.
