.Sadly, many young parents treat their married name as something of a joke without giving any thought to how their children may feel (read survive) being stuck with some of the hideously weird and sometimes unpronounceable names they force on their children. I feel for teachers especially who have to deal with silly at sometimes long winded names of their pupils and the ridicule it may provoke from their peers! There is also the difficulty in daily living especially with arrangements where the mother, the father and the children all have different surnames.Contrary to what some may believe, a married woman not taking her husbands surname does not mean or result in any lack of standing, respect or authority in any way whatsoever!
