I would be punishing your daughter. I doubt very much that the Police picked on her - and she must have been doing something to attract the attention of them. She was obviously drinking, and that alone should be cause for concern for you.
back to basics???? 53% increase over ten years???Back to basics would be rates going down.We see time and time again a series of Councillor pet projects getting money - Edgeware Pool being the most recent example.cut your cloth to suit, dont just use the ratepayer as an unlimited cash cow.
Problem we have is that no one will put their hand up - the entire model of Local Government needs a complete over-haul otherwise we will be stuck with a repetitive cycle of what we have now.
It may well be the impact rates is minor - but when there are a thousand things which individually have a minor impact on rates - it becomes a major impact on rates. My rates have gone from $1400 pa in 2012 to $5000 in 2018.Come on Councillors, we ratepayers can not keep up.Keep in mind rates arent the only thing that is increasing in price - in fact the only thing that isnt going up, are my wages. :(
I think it depends on your job. In saying that though, people are a lot more accepting, and tattoos a lot more commonplace, than they were 20 years ago.
Yes the hundred odd is after Uber Cut, and the $80 is after income tax and petrol - claim depreciation on Ks traveled for tax purpose, but as the car is also a personal car not a material impact on me.About $10-$15 in tax and $5-$10 in fuel, tax off set by operating expenses
I drive Uber every now and again, probably twice a month, get about a hundred dollars for around 3 hours work, costs me around 20; so $80 that I wouldnt have otherwise, and if I wasnt driving, Id be sitting at home watching television. Most Ive made is just over $300 for four hours driving.Works for me, might not work for you.
Robin, your posturing is commendable, but I suggest you spend a bit of time researching the relevant legislation because everything youve said above is not a good idea. The idea of having elected members making day to day business decisions is a terrible idea. What would be a far better way of running the organisation is having the elected members act (and be remunerated) akin to a professional board of directors.Let them adopt the long term plan, and anything contained within that document should not need any further input from elected members, if there are aspects that arise outside of that, then when the elected members every six weeks or so the matters can be given consideration. The benefit of having elected members only meeting every six weeks would be that the calibre of elected members would increase ten fold. We would avoid the career life time local government politicians.
Yes, all those retirees on their way to bridge will just hop on their push bikes.Glen, take off your blinkers for a while and realise that biking is only for a small % of the population.
Work smarter, not harder. With technology we can do the same amount of output in half the time as what people even ten years ago did.Buildings go up faster; research gets done faster. There will, of course, always be some jobs that simply take longer. But I believe the days of a 40 hour week should fall by the way side. Some people seem to be be intent on working as long as possible, its like a badge of honour.
I make money driving for Uber; its not a full time job for me, just something I do if theres nothing on television, or I want a bit of extra pocket money.
People also die driving cars -a silly comparison, but the point is that its personal choice. People are aware of the risks and decide what to do with their lives. We dont want to live in a society where what we can and can not legally do is dictated to us.
The number of personal agendas, prejudices and dogged adherence to planning rules that have prevailed in this area has frankly been quite outrageous. and dogged adherence to planning rules - isnt that exactly what we want, so we dont end up with a disaster as we currently have which is directly related to politicians seeking to take short cuts
