simple,she needs to step down until she can commit to the job. | 313 | 398 | 85 | Wildman willy |
Latest information this morning is that it costs $80,000. That seems like quite a bit of taxpayer money for one day and a photo shoot. Its now being masked as a training exorcise but that is just political spin. Simon Bridges got harassed for touring NZ in a parliamentary vehicle over an extended period of time. I dont doubt that it is important for our PM to attend these events, however it seems like a poor decision this time. Especially considering Winston Peters is already doing a good job on Foreign Affairs, she is only going for one day, their is a lady in Bali who could have used the training flight (subjective), Nurses got a poor pay deal, Teachers are getting a poor deal and Simon Bridges was vilified for spending that is no where near as extreme as this.
The fact is it just looks like a total waste of money..... | 301 | 337 | 36 | Y2KBugs |
I read her reasoning that the plane couldnt stay there and had to come back anyway.... so the plane goes there and has to come back and then take Cindy there and then come back and then go back there again to pick everyone else up... FYI Cindy you dont actually have to attend (just because youd be the first pm to miss doesnt mean you have to), as long as we have representatives who know what the go is then its all sweet. Just another blatant waste of tax payers $. | 284 | 338 | 54 | BudBud |
Jacinda, please be responsible and stay home. There is no justification for wasting $80,000. Let Winston deal with Nauru. | 271 | 303 | 32 | worthwhile |
There is something very wrong if the baby is causing additional tax payer money to be spent | 266 | 295 | 29 | zidaneking |
I think we were celebrating as a country for the birth is a bit of a stretch | 263 | 287 | 24 | oscarboy |
All through the election I thought Tracy was pro Adern. This piece only reinforces my impression. This extra 80K 757 trip for a one day photo op is 1) completely unnecessary 2) hypocritical because Labour criticised the Nats in Govt for airforce diversions and 3) contrary to their claims of being a green Govt. | 253 | 282 | 29 | Justmarried |
Winston is there and its so low-key the Aussie PM isnt there. Prioritise Jacinda, prioritise. | 252 | 272 | 20 | Jonathanman |
She wants too fly over there on her own then she should pay for it herself | 249 | 319 | 70 | Leonie Smith |
Sorry Stuff, but this piece is a disgrace. The PM has made a very bad decision and your political editor is trying to turn it into a sexism issue. It isnt a sexism issue, it is a credibility issue and the PM has damaged her own credibiity. She doesnt need your political editor to jump in for her. | 247 | 278 | 31 | Justmarried |
Probably need another working group to sort out the travel.Well done to Simon Bridges for helping organise to get the sick New Zealander back from overseas. | 236 | 260 | 24 | HUNT |
If she paid for it herself then fine.

Come on greens, have they lost their voices? 1 person on a 757 Air Force jet pumping out how much in green house gases! | 228 | 244 | 16 | NZerinAU |
So if she decided the plane had to come home (it couldnt stay there but could have flown to a closer airport) why didnt they divert the plane to Bali to bring the Hamilton woman back. Looks like we can afford to bring one mum back, but not another!

Yesterday we were told new mothers can do anything. Apparently they can if they have a personal jet and $80,000 of taxpayers money. Any other minister hitching a personal ride to attend a meeting another minister is already attending would be seen as scandalous. But it seems the JA cheer-leading media keep giving her a free pass.
Why didnt she go on the same plane as Winston? Because she needed to breast feed for a couple of more days? And that justifies $80k of taxpayers money does it? | 222 | 238 | 16 | HammerPants |
Typical more abuse of our tax dollars ones as bad as the other | 221 | 297 | 76 | Wolfman |
Trouble is its all unplanned. Like Adhern becoming prime minister. Like cobbling together a government of different parties. Like the pregnancy. How can we view her as being confidently in control. And what about this tiny babys needs? | 221 | 252 | 31 | Rosie Anne |
Where are the Greens on this, a Plane for ONE person...the silence is deafening.

How much is it for for a breast pump? Does she really need to spend the annual income tax of 3 households to get home to breastfeed? Theres no merit to returning to work if you cant do the job properly and efficiently. 6 weeks maternity leave was praised as remarkably short and its proving so. If youre the leader of a nation but cant be away from a suckling baby then you shouldnt be in the job. | 213 | 231 | 18 | hedgefund |
