People forget: an education doesn't make you smart, it just makes you educated. | 35 | 40 | 5 | spudman |
its called common sense. | 31 | 35 | 4 | kokoli888 |
IT support without any qualification? Are you kidding. First day on job, dont know how to ping lol. What is an IP address. They need to study a diploma in IT (hardware) to even stand a chance of being hired. | 28 | 34 | 6 | Geoff1985 |
Hmm, IT support? have a child with a IT diploma and various industry standard certifications, and still cant find a job 6 months on... | 28 | 28 | 0 | Ishme |
And thats how easy it all used to be... | 24 | 28 | 4 | Thurfboardt |
Its also 1 that all the university study in the world cannot make up for a lack of emotional intelligence. Leaders need brains, yes, but that has very little to do with formal qualifications, which are more necessary in the early years. Leaders need compassion, experience, communication skills etc etc as priority over a degree. | 21 | 23 | 2 | mal2 |
Enthusiasm and experience always beats qualifications.

no you dont, I know many IT professionals, who come it all colours, nationality. Its far more important weather you like Captain Kirk or Picard than skin colour. | 21 | 22 | 1 | Leonhart Hunt |

You may not need qualifications for some, but youll need the experience which can be harder to get. | 19 | 20 | 1 | fidelity |
Nailed it. One of my customers tried to replace decades of experience with qualifications and best practice. So far its cost them over one million dollars and service levels have never been lower (with a record number of tickets raised through the portal and placed in the priority queue awaiting allocation to a human resource before being documented by an ITIL certified person).
The best qualification of all is a QBE; Qualified By Experience.

Whilst most MPs have degrees, a lot of the qualifications held by them are utterly worthless. Doctor of Theology, many Arts degrees, a communication degree (which is great for pretending youre not lying) and even a degree in Zoology (I think - but hes gone now) are just some of the meaningless degrees that are held by our MPs. | 18 | 31 | 13 | ihaverightstoo |
Real estate agents lamenting property managers lack of qualifications! Funniest thing I've read all day. | 17 | 18 | 1 | Peteh |
you forgot sex work | 15 | 18 | 3 | BobbyCactus |
Degree doesnt equal brains. It especially does not show common sense, which from experience is not all that common, especially among grads with masters degrees.

I was miserable at school, hated it because I couldn't understand what they were trying to teach. As an adult I taught myself, now I have a bachelors and a masters degree and I work in process design and statistical analysis. I'd like to run into the 3rd form maths teacher who told me I was 'œjust stupid'. | 14 | 15 | 1 | Gruumanpilot |
