They should stop all the BS and actually do some work that the tax payers pay them to do. | 121 | 127 | 6 | shona |
like a wet tissue. The National party has lost its mojo. Simon Bridges clearly isnt liked and needs to go sooner rather than later.Zero policy announcements or future planning, its a blinking shambles. | 79 | 191 | 112 | agriiview |
I have always known that question time is a complete waste of time.Never heard a question answered properly by any party. | 65 | 75 | 10 | JohnBrooks |
Brownlee & Bennett Et al had got so used to being the important people they hate the fact they are just the opposition now and cant stand it.leave them to sort the mess out you created and stop wasting everyones time with your constant whinging. | 63 | 137 | 74 | Doppleganger |
That would certainly be some feat by Mallard. Wilson is unquestionably the worst performing Speaker the House has ever had.

The politicians have been told to grow up, act maturely and properly and National dont like it. Well its time they grew up. They all pulling down huge salaries yet behave worse than 5-year-olds. Its great someone has finally said this isnt acceptable and put in measures to ensure better behaviour. If theyre not going to do it themselves, someone has to do it for them.

As a shareholder in the NZ enterprise, I would prefer our management team in Parliament (on both sides) find solutions and provide value for money by delivering on a mandated agenda, not waste our time and money with petty squabbles. | 46 | 49 | 3 | Redeemer |
Stop behaving like spoilt little brats and get on with running or trying to run the country for which you are paid handsomely by us the taxpayers. | 46 | 60 | 14 | Copper Bottom |
While Im no Labour or Mallard fan myself, I dont think hes anywhere near Wilson. Those were truly awful days for the house. | 45 | 52 | 7 | Klemon |
Correction, Margaret Wilson was screecher of the house not speaker of the house. | 45 | 55 | 10 | Nimrod |
Hardly. Paulas little ruse appears to have simply been staged. She used the word bribe, knowing that it was against standing orders.
Brownlees blowup is purely for getting media attention and misses the obvious chain of events:1. Mallard states that a sexist remark was made during question time. 2. NewsHub takes note of the event 3. Afterwards, NewsHub asks Mallard for clarification, which he gives. 4. NewsHub reports the story.
Is Mallard not supposed to answer questions about what happened in Question Time? He couldnt have known at the time of answering NewsHub that the audio recordings had not caught the interjection.
Under Mallards system of maintaining order in the house, National have been the net recipients of 22 extra supplementary questions that they otherwise wouldnt have had, due to bad behaviour on the governments part. Hardly biased against National. | 41 | 81 | 40 | Lanthanide |
So they are. But like undisciplined toddlers they go. All of them. | 41 | 43 | 2 | Karen P63 |

It's absolutely fair for National to ask Trevor Mallard to put up or shut up. If they can show that a National MP made that objectionable comment then he or she should be punished - severely. But if they can't, then it puts Mallard's position in jeopardy. And that is also appropriate. | 41 | 117 | 76 | FATS |
How astronomically childish of all of them. These guys are paid mega-bucks to stamp their feet and make cheap jibes at each other, when they could easily put their efforts into working together to improve this country. | 40 | 51 | 11 | Kylovitch1 |
Is it just me that seriously cant listen to my tax payer money be argued away?every time I have listened to them all they do is argue about irrelevant name calling ,how they get away with wasting tax payer money on bickering is honestly beyond me | 40 | 47 | 7 | #real advice |
If The Speaker did take the story to the media he needs to be replaced, that transgression is worse than the comment itself, if it was even made. Which to be fair it probably was. | 39 | 91 | 52 | Boris66 |
Gerry Brownlee could ask the people of Christchurch for advice on waiting. After all he does not even wait for security checks at airports. | 38 | 78 | 40 | redkatipo |
The ONLY way to have an unbiased Speaker is to have an appointment process that excludes former MPs from being able to sit. Trevor Mallard has always been staunch Labour and is a person most unlikely to be fair and balanced. As an MP his behaviour was amongst the worst. Perhaps speaker should be appointed by Governor General or Chief Justice? | 36 | 93 | 57 | scarecrow1 |
